Can you Scorpio-proof a house?

By admin Jun17,2022

If you’ve been stung by a scorpion or live in a scorpion-infested area, you’ve probably asked yourself the question, “Can you scorpion-proof a house?” The answer… There are some simple steps you can take to HELP Scorpion TRY a home!

I say HELP Scorpion Proof Your home for a couple of reasons. First of all, Scorpions only need a SMALL crack (1/16th of an inch wide to be exact) to get into a house. Chances are you probably won’t be able to seal every crack this small around your house. Second, scorpions are hunters and will continue to come from neighboring properties, desert, and parkland. You really should maintain your professional pest control service to ensure total scorpion control within your home and garden!

Like any insect, scorpions need food, moisture, and shelter to survive. Remove these scorpion resources from your home and garden to help Seal Scorpions and gain MAX control!

  • Eliminate harborage areas in your yard that attract scorpions and their prey, such as: woodpiles, leaf piles, overgrown shrubs, tree bark, large to medium-sized rocks, and debris.
  • Scorpions and the insects they feed on seek moisture, so make sure your outside irrigation system is working properly, don’t over-water. Do not allow areas to become waterlogged.
  • Make sure all your DOOR SWEEPS & Weather-Stripping are in good shape and replace the old ones.
  • PUTTY around every door, window, utility pipe, and cable that enters your home.
  • If you have a cinder block wall fence, use Concrete CULK on the “I” block fence (connecting) the blocks and cracks.
  • Seal concrete expansion joints around your home, garage, pool, and sidewalks with concrete caulk.
  • Prevent professional pest control treatments from being absorbed into block wall fences by SEALING the fence with acrylic paint or similar sealant!
  • Use ONLY YELLOW BULBS outside! They are less attractive to insects that scorpions feed on like: CRICKETS, beetles and MANY more!
  • Fill with copper mesh the cries of your house. (Between the stucco or siding and the foundation. You can usually fill it under exterior stucco walls.) For smaller areas around the drain, simply use putty.
  • OBSERVE all VENTILATORS around and above your home that lead indoors. Be careful not to cover the dryer vent to avoid fire hazards.
  • SCREEN air extractors.
  • SEAL around light fixtures, electrical outlet plates, and plumbing pipes inside your home.
