History of the Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra first hit the market in 1999 and is still in production today. Toyota Tundra vehicles released during the period 2002 to date are in the full-size pickup truck category. The Toyota Tundra was launched as a predecessor to the Toyota T100 model and is related to the Toyota Sequoia.

The Toyota Tundra was widely regarded as the first full-size import pickup designed with an American look and feel and marketed with the advanced V8 engine. Current Tundra models are assembled in Princeton, Indiana and San Antonio, Texas. The Tundra launched as an initial model included several features from the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota T100. A new redesigned model was released in 2007.

The Tundra was first shown in 2006 at the Chicago Auto Show. The vehicle’s 5.7-liter V8 engine produces 284 kilowatts of power and 544 Nm of torque.
