London Hotel Deals: Get a room for £ 1 at the modern Hoxton Hotel.

The trendy Hoxton Hotel (in East London’s vibrant Shoreditch area) has £ 1 flash sales every few months.

Sometimes around 1000 rooms are given away at a special price (although many are £ 29 instead of £ 1, which is still a very good deal).

The Hoxton receives good reviews from guests and is currently in the top 20 London hotels on TripAdvisor. So it’s certainly worth risking your arm on hotel flash sales!

Guests of the Hoxton seem to enjoy the hotel’s friendly service and inspiring public spaces that often display the work of local artists (the Shoreditch area has quite a few artist studios nearby).

Even outside of the sales, room rates are also quite reasonable for London and are often available for under £ 100. The Hoxton offers free WiFi for guests, which is another major perk.

All of this makes promo rooms a real bargain. But you must be very attentive to the trigger because cheaper rooms tend to disappear in a few minutes.

It’s definitely a matter of luck if you pocket one of these bargain rooms. So should you consider reserving the Hoxton even outside of the promo?

Guest reviews on TripAdvisor suggest it’s a good bet even at its “normal” price.

The hotel, which opened in 2006, calls itself “The Urban Lodge.” It has comfortable seating and modern furniture around its lobby, and a modern warehouse-style feel in keeping with the local architecture.

The location is fine, but it is certainly not central London. However, it is useful for public transport connections to the West End.

Rooms are contemporary with flat screens and nice little amenities, for example a “Pret a Manger Lite” breakfast, fresh milk, down duvets, and other little touches. It is quite a quirky hotel with a good dose of “character”.

The only downside is that rooms at the Hoxton can occasionally be a bit small, despite their clever layout. An insider tip (one of many you can get on the London Hotels Insight blog) is to ask for one of the rooms on the upper floors, which are said to be slightly larger than average. Or you can even cheekily ask the staff to suggest one of the best rooms for you!
