No matter where you are in St. Lucia, there’s something beautiful to behold, whether it’s the sparkling Caribbean Sea or the green-covered mountains. With jaw-dropping views everywhere you look, choosing my favorite spots was a daunting task. However, after much site viewing, I have managed to narrow down the top 3 locations for St. Lucia real estate with stunning views.
Morne’s Fortune
Morne Fortune is one of the loveliest parts of Saint Lucia. At 900 feet high, the Morne, as it is commonly called, towers over the capital city, offering views of the entire northwest coast of St. Lucia, with all its bays, beaches, and rugged beauty. On clear nights, the headlights of cars driving through Martinique, along 50 miles of the Caribbean Sea, are as clear as if they were on Gros Islet.
The Morne has steep slopes and is steeped in history. It is the site of colonial mansions such as Government House, the Johnson Memorial Home, and the Pink Plantation restaurant. Atop the cloud-shrouded Morne stands the 18th century brown brick military fort, which is the campus of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. The university is a popular stop on tours of the island where people visit the picturesque war memorial, as well as the grave of the Nobel Prize winner of the same name. Throughout the Morne, there are giant trees, which appear to have been standing for centuries.
rodney heights
The upscale Rodney Heights neighborhood is usually high on the checklist for people looking for St. Lucia real estate with ocean views. As its name implies, Rodney Heights sits on a hill overlooking Rodney Bay. Depending on their exact location, homes in Rodney Heights feature views of Pigeon Island, the Caribbean Sea, or the Rodney Bay Marina. At night, with the city lit up, the views are electrifying!
One of Rodney Heights’ strongest features is its convenient location. All homes in this area are within a 5 minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Reduit and Pigeon Island. Rodney Bay is also lined with shopping malls, restaurants, bars, and St. Lucia’s only casino. This is an in-demand area, suitable for people who want high-quality St. Lucia real estate. Ocean view villas average around US$1,000,000.
Be aware
Saint Lucia real estate at Vigie is unique for many reasons. It is a peninsula that can only be accessed via a scenic drive along the most popular beach in Castries. Almost completely surrounded by the sea, practically every house in Vigie has a spectacular view. North facing houses have views of Vigie Beach, Choc Bay and Pigeon Island. The south-facing houses have views of the port of Castries and La Toc beach.
Although only 5 minutes from the town of Castries, Vigie feels like it’s tucked away. The houses tend to be on relatively large lots, which gives a sense of privacy. It is a well-established neighborhood and is home to many institutions such as the embassies of Mexico, France and Venezuela. The Vigie Lighthouse, with its 360-degree view, is a popular vantage point.
St. Lucia real estate is all about amazing views! There are so many great places to choose from that house hunters may have a hard time picking their favorites – I certainly did! From the historic to the modern, from the secluded to the urban, there is an incredible variety to find the home of your dreams!
