I love selling valuable books online. eBay is a great place to sell valuable children’s books. A wonderful part of my job is the market I get to serve. They are a fun bunch of people who are often picky eaters and eager to share the book with a loved one, sometimes of a much younger age.
Some of my favorite books to sell are old picture books. Most people think of Little Golden Books when I mention children’s books, but there are only a handful of LGB books worth money. The Most Wanted Market comes right in the 1950s and 1980s time frame. You may be surprised at how many valuable books you’ve passed up at yard sales or thrift stores because they’re just picture books. for children of average appearance.
If you are the child of a baby boomer, you may remember the works of Gene Zion. His most popular series was Harry the Dog. He has some vintage collectible books that will come in handy if you find one.
A book to look for that regularly sells for between $50 and $150 is Sugar Mouse Cake. If you have an old copy of Sugar Mouse Cake, it may be time to get rid of it and start selling books online. Gene Zion wrote this fabulous book and Margaret Bloy Graham illustrated it. This famous and valuable book was published in 1964. It is sought after because they were once married and this was their only collaborative work.
Don’t worry about the library discards you’re most likely to run into. The market for valuable children’s books is fairly forgiving of a collectible book’s library discard status. In fact, many of the people remember even more, since their memories were of a library book. Keep an eye out for another of Zion’s wanted works titled Meanest Squirrel I Ever Met published in 1982.
