MLM Success – How To Avoid Discouragement

To achieve success in MLM, you will need to deal with discouragement and learn to avoid it whenever possible. Everyone goes through moments of discouragement at one time or another, but what separates those who succeed from those who don’t? Well, I think learning to deal with discouragement is an important factor in that equation. So what are the areas where people get most discouraged?

Most people who enter an MLM or Network Marketing company were told that they could achieve financial freedom, quit their day job, and spend more vacation time with their family. I believe this to be true and that is why I love this industry. You have unlimited earning potential, no one else determines your salary or your hourly wage. The sky is the limit. Unfortunately, you were probably told that this could happen with very little effort and in a very short time. Well, that’s usually not true, and when it doesn’t happen quickly, we get discouraged. The right mindset and having a plan will help you avoid discouragement. Realize that it’s going to take some work and it’s not going to happen overnight. Then set some goals that will help you get to that pie in the sky. And define for yourself what MLM success means to you. When I started my company, my first goal was to make a profit. Earn more money than you spent on the product. When that happened, I wasn’t discouraged because I still couldn’t quit my day job, I was celebrating that I was making a profit with my business. That’s extra income each month that you didn’t have before. I was advancing and progressing. Then I set myself a monthly income goal, I wanted to earn $500 in profit per month. I then increased the goal after the previous goal was achieved. In this way I am not getting discouraged because I have been in this business for months and I still do not earn thousands of dollars, but I celebrate each goal that I reach on my way.

Anyone who has achieved success in MLM will tell you that they received many more no’s than yes’s. If you’re in Network Marketing, you’ll get more no’s than yes’s. Embrace the no’s, in fact you should set a goal to get at least 10 no’s a day. Get past the no’s so you can get to the yes’s. I know it sounds a little crazy, but if your goal is to get 10 people to say no to you, you might be a little less bummed when it happens. If you get a yes, then that’s an unexpected bonus and now you’re excited! I’m not going to go into detail in this article, but I do have a way to turn my nos into income. You were probably told to tell all your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers about your opportunity. This is called your warm market. Once you’ve gone through your worm market, which usually happens pretty quickly, what then? This can get daunting when you have no one to talk to about your opportunity. Don’t think of this as a problem, rather see it as an opportunity to push yourself and learn. Get creative and think of new ways to meet people and network. There are a few directions you could go with this. You can buy some genealogy reports and cold call people who were once in network marketing. You can find these reports online and they are reasonably priced. Social media is a great place to connect with new people and prospects. Think outside the box, be creative instead of getting discouraged. At the end of the day, your success in MLM depends on your efforts and your ability to overcome discouragement and keep moving forward.
